- On May 13, 1985, a retired police officer named Mooney disappeared in Haines City, Florida. He’d just picked up his fixed lawnmower and was driving home. A neighbor saw him at 4 PM putting the mower in his car.
The next day, his car—a gray 1978 Ford coupe (license plate CKA1967)—was found abandoned and stuck in the mud in a nearby citrus grove. His lawnmower was inside, and his dog was found nearby, but Mooney was gone. He’s never been seen or heard from since. The case is still a mystery.
