- Details of Disappearance:
- Mickey disappeared in 1989. The last time anyone saw her, she was getting into a truck at a Georgia motel. She was a mom living with her boyfriend, Steven. Before she vanished, she left a message for her parents to pick up her son, saying she needed to leave. Her son also gave his grandmother a note begging to go with her. Mickey’s car was found abandoned and later destroyed *before* anyone reported her missing, so police couldn’t investigate it.
Steven is suspected in Mickey’s disappearance, as well as the disappearance of another girlfriend and the murder of his wife, Rita. Rita was strangled and found dead a few days after she disappeared. Steven said she went on errands and never came back. He and Rita had a troubled marriage, and she was filing for divorce when she died.
Steven had a history of violence and criminal activity. Although police never charged him with any of these crimes, he’s the main suspect, and everyone thinks Mickey’s disappearance was not an accident. He died in 2013. Mickey’s case is still unsolved.
