- Details of Disappearance:
- On August 20, 1973, 22-year-old Susan Hollar disappeared. She was last seen leaving work in Eugene, Oregon, at 5:00 p.m., getting into her black 1965 Volkswagen Beetle (Illinois license plate GR 7738 – no running boards).
Hollar, who had recently moved to Oregon from Illinois, worked as a seamstress. She was going home, and planned to meet a friend for a party later that evening, but never arrived. She left behind all her belongings and her last paycheck. Her car and purse are also missing.
Because she picked up hitchhikers, and because she fits the profile of Ted Bundy’s victims, and Bundy was in the area at the time, police believe he may have been responsible for her disappearance and murder. Although Bundy was executed in 1989 and confessed to many killings, Oregon investigators never got to question him about Hollar’s case.
Many other young women disappeared around the same time and are also believed to be Bundy’s victims; their bodies have never been found.
