Details of Disappearance:
Hanna disappeared on May 20, 2005, from her apartment in Charleston, South Carolina. She got home around 3 pm and talked to her mom around 5:50 pm. She sent texts at 8 pm and 10:19 pm, but when a friend came over at 10:30 pm for a shopping trip, Hanna didn’t answer the door.

Her phone was off, which was unusual for her. Her mom couldn’t reach her all weekend. When Hanna missed work and breakfast with her mom the next day, her mom and boyfriend went to her apartment. Everything looked normal; no signs of a struggle, just a blanket and a teacup. All her belongings were there except her phone.

The police were slow to investigate, finally starting on May 27th. Hanna’s mom cleaned out her apartment on June 1st.

Hanna was shy and close to her family. She didn’t have a car and hadn’t driven in years. On the day she disappeared, she received an upsetting phone call at work and told a customer she was scared of someone but wouldn’t say who.

Years later, in December 2016, her ex-boyfriend, Zeke Lankford, was charged with obstructing justice. He initially lied to police about his whereabouts the night Hanna disappeared, later admitting he *might* have been at her apartment.

Police are investigating whether Hanna was sold to pay off a drug debt. Her family believes she didn’t leave willingly. Her apartment looked like she planned to return, but something stopped her.

Hanna was declared legally dead in 2013, but her case remains unsolved and is being investigated as a homicide.
