- On July 2, 1988, Brenda left her home in Brookwood, Alabama with a male friend. She told her mom she was going to see friends in nearby Abernant. Later that day, her friend dropped her off at a house across from Hosmer’s Grocery in Abernant, but her friends weren’t there. Brenda was left waiting. She called her mom at 9:30 PM to say she’d be late. That was the last time anyone heard from her.
Brenda had run away before, but always came back quickly. The police initially thought this was another runaway case, but now they suspect something bad happened to her. Her disappearance remains a mystery.
