- In December 2000, Gonzalez checked into a motel in Santa Fe, New Mexico, planning a short stay. She vanished without a trace. The motel staff reported her missing after she didn’t check out. Her motel room showed no signs of a fight, and she left some belongings behind, suggesting she intended to return.
Gonzalez had rented a silver minivan (a Ford Windstar) that was later found abandoned and covered in snow in the mountains. There were no clues near the van, and a police dog couldn’t pick up her scent.
She had no known connections in Santa Fe; she lived and worked as a nurse several hours away on the Zuni Indian Reservation. She might have been planning a move to Santa Fe. Gonzalez, originally from Puerto Rico, disappeared mysteriously, and her case remains unsolved.
