- Distinguishing Characteristics Caucasian male. Gray hair, blue eyes. Hawkins’s nickname is Charlie. He speaks fluent Spanish. He has a large scar on the outside of his lower left leg where skin, tissue and muscle were surgically removed. The scar is approximately eight or nine inches long and two or three inches wide.

- Mr. Hawkins disappeared in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The last time anyone saw him was March 19, 1998, driving his truck. His locked truck was found abandoned in a desert ditch a month later, on April 19th. Police searched the area thoroughly but never found him. He’d worked at New Mexico State University for many years before his disappearance. Because he’s never been found, he was officially declared dead in 2003, but the mystery of what happened to him remains unsolved.
