- Details of Disappearance:
- In 1992, Zahn, a Swiss tourist, arrived in the US to visit major cities and national parks. After traveling to Atlanta, Georgia, from Florida, he made a phone call to his travel agent, confirming a Las Vegas trip for later that month. Then, he vanished.
His credit card was used repeatedly in Georgia after his disappearance, totaling $2800 in purchases. Harry Eugene Hale was caught using the card and convicted of credit card fraud. Hale claimed Zahn let him use it, but police suspect something far worse.
Zahn’s belongings – cameras, a camera bag, and a quilt – were found in Hale’s Kentucky home. Hale had a history of targeting young men, and police think he may have murdered Zahn to steal his credit card. While never charged with Zahn’s murder, Hale is a suspect in other similar cases. Zahn’s disappearance remains a mystery, but police believe foul play was involved.
