Distinguishing Characteristics:
Distinguishing Characteristics Caucasian female. Light brown hair, blue eyes. Although her given name is Constance, almost all agencies refer to her by her nickname, Connie. She was tall and well-developed in 1952 and looked older than her age; she may have grown tall in adulthood. She is very nearsighted and is supposed to wear eyeglasses, but hers were broken when she disappeared. She would be unable to read without her glasses. Connie was very suntanned at the time of her disappearance, and her eyeteeth were just erupting. She has a slight scar under her right nostril.
Details of Disappearance:
Connie, a girl from Wyoming whose grandfather was the state’s governor, disappeared from summer camp in Connecticut in 1952. On July 16th, after a fight where she got a bloody nose, she told her friends she was going to the camp dispensary but instead left camp.

She was seen walking along the road, picking flowers, and asking for directions to Lakeville. It seemed she was homesick and decided to leave camp early, even though she only had a week left. She was last seen hitchhiking on a nearby highway without money or extra clothes.

Camp staff realized she was missing later that day when they found her ice pack still in her tent. A big search turned up nothing.

While many people have been considered suspects over the years, no one has ever been charged. One theory is she ran away to see one of her divorced parents, but neither parent ever saw her again. Her mother visited just two days before her disappearance, and Connie seemed fine.

One possible suspect was William Henry Redmond, a former carnival worker with a history of violence. He was suspected in another girl’s murder but died before he could be tried again. Although he passed a lie detector test about Connie, he remains a possibility.

Despite numerous investigations, Connie’s disappearance remains a mystery. She was a well-liked girl who enjoyed traveling and loved animals.
