- Details of Disappearance:
- On February 24, 1997, Kipper went to St. Joseph, Missouri, from Kansas City to see a friend. After ice skating, around 1:00 am, her car’s gas light came on, but she refused to get gas, thinking she could make it back. This wasn’t unusual; her family said she’d run out of gas before.
She dropped her friend off around 2:00 am, promising to call when she got home. She never did. Around 2:30 am, her car ran out of gas on Interstate 29. A truck driver saw a woman matching Kipper’s description on the side of the road, seemingly in distress, and another car backing toward her.
Kipper’s car was found later that morning, abandoned with its hazard lights on. Kipper was gone.
Police investigated John Williams, a convicted sex offender, after finding Kipper’s ID, pay stub, keys, and clothing (with signs of violence) in his home. Williams claimed he accidentally hit Kipper with his car, panicked, and disposed of her body. He led police to a search area but nothing was found. His windshield had been repaired the day after Kipper disappeared, possibly from a struggle. Several people said they knew where her body was, but there was no proof.
Williams committed suicide in prison before he could be charged with Kipper’s murder, but his cellmates confirmed his confession. Despite this, Kipper’s body has never been found, and her case remains unsolved. It’s important to note that Kipper had previously worked as an exotic dancer but had quit before her disappearance.
