- Details of Disappearance:
- On May 27, 1995, Mr. Broughton disappeared from his Pensacola, Florida home. He was last seen around 5:30 PM in his backyard. He told his grandson he’d be back in 30 minutes, but he never returned.
His wife saw him walking away and went to follow him, but he was gone. A neighbor saw him trying to climb a fence nearby. He was then seen heading towards the railroad tracks behind some houses, and possibly under a bridge near Texar Drive.
Despite having Alzheimer’s disease, Mr. Broughton had never wandered off before. He’d been talking about moving back to his hometown of Monroeville, Alabama, where he still had family.
A big search found nothing. His family thinks someone may have picked him up and taken him away. Even though he sometimes got confused, this wasn’t something he’d done before. The mystery of his disappearance remains unsolved.
