Details of Disappearance:
In June 1981, a young couple, Atterbury and her boyfriend Joe McNear, vanished near Pike National Forest in Colorado. They’d recently moved there from Illinois. After the move, they stopped contacting their families, and no one ever saw or heard from them again.

Police think they were killed in a fight with two men from Illinois. There were rumors that their bodies were put in big metal drums and buried near South Platte, Colorado. Police searched that area in 1985, but found nothing. To this day, no one has been arrested, and the mystery of what happened to Atterbury and McNear remains unsolved.
