Details of Disappearance:
On May 27, 1999, Williams disappeared. Around noon, he left his auto body shop in Nucla, Colorado, saying he was helping a stranded driver nearby. This was unusual, as he wasn’t a mechanic. A friend saw him leave; the friend thought the caller was a woman.

His wife tried calling him for lunch later that day but couldn’t reach him. She wasn’t worried at first. However, when he didn’t come home, she reported him missing.

Five weeks later, his white “Pro Body Shop” pickup truck was found submerged in a river. The truck was in gear, with the ignition on, and the driver’s side window partly closed—unusual because Williams always kept it open. Police think someone deliberately drove the truck into the river. His wife believes he wasn’t driving it.

There were some unconfirmed sightings: one at a market in a nearby town later that day, and another of his truck near his shop 90 minutes after he left.

A year before, Williams and his wife had helped a friend secretly move his spouse. The friend was angry Williams wouldn’t reveal the spouse’s new location. Soon after, torn photos of Williams and the friend’s family, and .22-caliber bullets, were found near his shop; his .22-caliber gun was later found in his wife’s video store drop box. Police believe his shop was broken into.

Police questioned the angry friend, but he had an alibi and was cleared. Williams’s disappearance remains a mystery, with no arrests ever made.
