- Details of Disappearance:
- On April 24, 1967, a woman named Polizzi vanished from her apartment in Lodi, New Jersey. She and her husband were apartment hunting that day, and after viewing three places, her husband left her home alone. When he returned, she was gone. She took some clothes but left most of her belongings, including her jewelry.
A neighbor, Raymond Alves, who worked with Polizzi’s husband and whose wife was friends with Polizzi, moved away the very next day. Alves was later convicted of a violent crime – raping and assaulting a teenager – and is suspected by authorities of being a serial killer responsible for the deaths of up to seven teenage girls. However, he has never been charged in connection with those deaths or with Polizzi’s disappearance.
Polizzi worked as a waitress and was a regular at a local diner. Despite investigation, her disappearance remains a mystery.
