- Details of Disappearance:
- Deborah disappeared from her home in Rockdale County, Georgia on January 29, 1991. Her sons, aged 11 and 13, were at school. When they came home around 4:45 p.m., they found the back door kicked in, a garage window broken, and the phone lines cut. There was blood inside the house and carport. Nothing appeared to be stolen.
The next day, her truck was found abandoned in Decatur, with the keys inside and $100 in cash on the seat – possibly a trick to make someone steal the truck and cover up the crime. There was blood in the truck too.
Police think two people were involved. A white pickup truck was seen near her house before she disappeared, but its connection to the case is unknown.
Deborah was in a very difficult divorce with her husband, Donald. She had reported him for beating her in 1989 and feared he would kill her if she went through with the divorce. The divorce was scheduled to be final on the day she disappeared, but it’s unclear if it’s related to her abduction. Donald denied involvement.
Deborah was declared legally dead in 2001, but her murder remains unsolved.
