- Details of Disappearance:
- Deborah disappeared on October 25, 1990, after leaving her apartment to go to a supermarket. Her abandoned car was later found at a nearby Safeway. Deborah was a prostitute with a criminal record and had lived in several states.
Her sister, Cheryl, was murdered in 1983 and was a victim of the Green River Killer, Gary Ridgway. Ridgway was suspected in Cheryl’s death and many other murders since 1984. He was eventually convicted in 2003 of 48 murders, including Cheryl’s, and sentenced to life in prison. However, he denied killing Deborah.
Even though Ridgway confessed to killing many women, he claimed all his murders happened in King County, Washington. Police suspect he killed more, and they are still investigating other missing and murdered women in Washington state who might be connected to him. If they can prove he killed outside King County, he could face the death penalty.
Because of the circumstances of her disappearance—her car being abandoned, her profession, and the history with the Green River Killer—police suspect foul play in Deborah’s case.
