- Details of Disappearance:
- On March 4th, 2005, a man named Sample disappeared. He was last seen around 11:00 a.m. buying gas near Interstate 5 and Harrison in Centralia, Washington. He’d left home that morning for a weekend trip into the wilderness.
His red and white Ford pickup truck was later found abandoned, locked, near Lake Quinault. His sleeping bag and food were still inside; there was no sign of a struggle or what happened to him.
He’d told people he was going to Tillamook, Oregon, but his truck wasn’t found on that route. His family said he often changed his plans. Police think he might have had a red 24-inch mountain bike with him (a picture is available). The bike is missing too, but there were no bike tracks by his truck.
Sample worked as a pharmacist at a Walmart in Chehalis. His coworkers reported him missing when he didn’t show up for work and didn’t call, which was unusual for him. His family said he wasn’t depressed and had no reason to disappear.
The case remains a mystery.
