- Details of Disappearance:
- Dock Thompson Sr. and his son, Dock Jr., vanished on February 9, 1989, from their Tallahassee, Florida, gas station. The last person to see them was Robert Lee Lindsey, a contractor who owed Dock Sr. $25,000. Lindsey had written bad checks, and on the day of the disappearance, he convinced Dock Sr. to go with him, promising to repay the debt.
Lindsey later returned to the gas station, saying he needed Dock Jr.’s signature on some papers. He claimed he dropped both men off in Quincy, Florida, but neither has been seen since. Police are suspicious of Lindsey, believing he’s not telling the whole story.
Dock Jr. was an engineering student who had recently returned to Tallahassee from Atlanta. The Thompsons were a close, religious family, and Dock Sr. usually carried a weapon and never traveled alone. This makes their willingly going with Lindsey highly unusual.
Investigators suspect foul play and a private detective believes their bodies might be in a mine shaft near Quincy or Gretna, Florida. The case remains a mystery.
