- On May 28, 2016, Whitmer visited her mother in Springfield, Ohio for her birthday. This was the last time her mother saw her. Whitmer usually contacted her mother every few months, but she disappeared after that visit.
A police officer who knew Whitmer saw her around Selma Road and York Street in Springfield, an area known for sex work. Whitmer had been involved in prostitution before. Her mother searched that area for her but couldn’t find her.
The police wouldn’t take a missing person report until almost a year later, on May 9, 2017. No one knows where Whitmer is, and her disappearance is still a mystery.
