Details of Disappearance:

Sher disappeared in October 2002. She left work sick on October 14th and her husband, Robert Desmond, told her boss she wouldn’t be returning on October 17th. He even emailed her boss a resignation letter from her the next day, claiming she couldn’t do it herself. This was odd, and her boss contacted the police.

Desmond told police Sher left him willingly on October 18th, dropping her off at a train station. Initially, there wasn’t enough evidence to investigate further.

However, Sher’s family, estranged due to Desmond’s threatening behavior (they had a restraining order against him), reported her missing 18 months later after a private investigator found Desmond and their *secret* son living together without Sher.

The police are now suspicious. Sher’s family and coworkers described Desmond as violent and abusive. He’s said Sher left, but police don’t believe that, considering her close relationship with her family before meeting Desmond, and the fact that she never collected her last paychecks, her driver’s license and car registration lapsed, and her loved ones don’t think she would abandon her son. The police are investigating her disappearance as a possible homicide, though Desmond hasn’t been charged.
