Over a year later, in October 2009, her body was discovered in an underground cable vault—a space under a manhole cover—very close to where her ex-boyfriend used to live. Police arrested the ex-boyfriend, Victor Hernandez Cruz, for her murder. He admitted to killing her by strangulation, but then killed himself in jail the next day.
