- On February 21, 1998, a geologist named Mathews left her home in Flagstaff, Arizona, around 2:00 p.m. She was going for a hike in Verde Valley. She never came back.
Before she disappeared, she and her husband had been in Utah looking at retirement homes. Police don’t suspect anything bad happened to her, but they don’t know where she is. She worked for the Forest Service, and there’s a possibility she might be in California.
