Details of Disappearance:
Francillon disappeared from a swap meet in Las Vegas in August 1986. His mother, Amy, and stepfather, Lee, said they lost him there, but their story is full of holes.

Before his disappearance, Francillon had been severely abused by Amy and Lee. They were charged with felony child abuse after giving him 30-40 welts on his back. Even after being briefly placed in foster care, Francillon was returned to them, despite Amy repeatedly refusing social worker visits. Neighbors and friends saw bruises on Francillon in the months leading up to his disappearance, and Amy admitted to further punishments. Lee also admitted to abusing Francillon.

The day Francillon vanished, Amy and Lee failed lie detector tests. They were later charged with lying to the police about many things, including their backgrounds and the events surrounding Francillon’s disappearance. Most witnesses at the swap meet said they never saw Francillon that day, and some people Amy claimed had babysat him denied it. Neighbors even said they saw Amy and Lee leave their house alone that morning.

Amy and Lee were convicted of obstructing justice, serving short jail sentences. In jail, letters revealed Amy’s remorse and Lee’s suggestion that Amy was responsible. A witness also claimed to have overheard Lee saying Amy killed Francillon.

Although they initially blamed Francillon’s biological father, Jean, he was cleared. Years later, in 2019, Amy was charged with Francillon’s murder. She pleaded no contest to involuntary manslaughter in 2021, serving a reduced sentence due to time already served. She maintains her innocence.

Police suspect foul play and believe Francillon’s body may be in Lake Mead.
