Details of Disappearance:
On April 30, 1988, a man named Osgood fell overboard from his sailboat, the *Sea Lust*, while sailing between California and Catalina Island. Strong winds blew him off the boat at 4:00 p.m. He wasn’t wearing a life jacket. People on the boat tried three times to pull him back in using a small dinghy, but he disappeared on the fourth attempt. The Coast Guard searched, but couldn’t find him.

Osgood was a skilled sailor who lived in Canoga Park, California, and ran his own construction business. He was a former Air Force member and professional jazz drummer. He was born in California but grew up in Washington State. Because he wasn’t found, it’s believed he drowned.
