- Details of Disappearance:
- On October 28, 2010, 21-year-old culinary student Andrew Compton disappeared from Louisville, Kentucky. He was last seen near Bardstown Road. He left his dorm room with only his phone, MP3 player, and wallet, leaving everything else behind. This was unusual, as he was close to his parents and talked to them daily. They never heard from him again.
Compton met Gregory O’Bryan through an online dating site. They met on the night Compton disappeared. O’Bryan initially told police that after they had sex at his apartment, Compton left. However, after police searched O’Bryan’s apartment and found blood, he changed his story. He claimed Compton died accidentally during sex, that he was under the influence of drugs and alcohol. He said he put Compton’s body in a box and threw it in a dumpster. Even worse, he admitted to having sex with the body multiple times before disposing of it. He also destroyed Compton’s phone and credit cards.
O’Bryan was charged with murder, tampering with evidence, and abusing a corpse. In 2013, he pleaded guilty to the evidence tampering and abuse charges and no contest to murder, to avoid the death penalty. He received a 25-year prison sentence.
Sadly, Andrew Compton’s body has never been found. Police believe it’s in a southern Indiana landfill, but recovery is unlikely, and the search has been stopped.
