Details of Disappearance:
Dr. Myers, a chiropractor from Colorado, vanished while climbing North America’s tallest mountain, Mount Denali (20,320 feet) in Alaska on May 21, 2009. He left his climbing partners a note at 14,200 feet, saying he’d climb ahead. He was last seen near the summit, around 18,900 feet. Despite having a radio and emergency beacon, he wasn’t found after a massive search. Investigators believe he likely fell into a crevasse, not an avalanche. Even though he was an experienced climber, Dr. Myers’s minimal gear and the mountain’s dangers contributed to the tragedy. He’s one of over 100 people who’ve died on Denali since 1932, and his body has never been recovered.
