Details of Disappearance:
On May 16, 2009, Hattie Brown picked up her nephew, Derek, from a Sheetz gas station in Halifax County, Virginia. Security cameras showed them leaving at 2:33 AM in Hattie’s brown Volkswagen Jetta. Hattie dropped Derek off at a party, but she disappeared.

Two months later, her burned-out car was found on an abandoned farm. Police suspected someone local was involved because the farm was hidden. They named Derek as a suspect because of his past criminal record (breaking and entering, etc.), but he wasn’t charged.

Hattie’s family believes she didn’t leave willingly. She left behind her purse, medicine, and her dog. Her bank accounts were untouched. Hattie was an Army veteran.

Strangely, her brother also disappeared in 2013. While police don’t think the cases are related, both remain unsolved mysteries.
