- Details of Disappearance:
- On August 24, 2007, David Stauffer and his fiancée, Karen Dodds, were in a plane crash in the Straits of Mackinac, near Bois Blanc Island, Michigan. The crash happened at 1:30 p.m. While Dodds’ body and some plane parts were found later that year, Stauffer’s body was never recovered, even after a big search. Both Stauffer and Dodds lived in Washington, D.C. Stauffer was a successful architect, writer (he wrote technical books and a children’s story), and a graduate of Baltimore Polytechnic Institute and Catholic University of America.
