- Details of Disappearance:
- In 1977, a family lived in Compton, California: Ivy, her mother Earlene, her sister Violet, and her half-sister Yolanda. A boy, Sir-Kristopher Marshall, was sleeping over. Their house burned down in the middle of the night. Earlene was found dead; she’d been strangled. The children were missing, and there was a blood trail leading away from the house.
Earlene’s husband, James, had been accused of molesting and raping Ivy the year before. After the fire, James was questioned about the fire and his wife’s death. He was let go initially, but then arrested for Earlene’s murder when the autopsy confirmed she was strangled. He was later charged with murdering the missing children because the girls were going to testify against him in court for the molestation.
James was tried twice for the murders but the jury couldn’t reach a verdict. The charges were eventually dropped. He’s now dead.
Years later, in 2014, Ivy’s remains were found. The other children are still missing.
