Details of Disappearance:
On May 8, 1991, (though some records say April 24th), experienced pilot Murrian took a short flight in his small plane from Melbourne Regional Airport. He didn’t file a flight plan because he only expected to be gone for 30 minutes. He never came back.

A big search lasting twelve days covered a huge area, but neither Murrian nor his plane were ever found. Authorities think his plane crashed somewhere remote. Even though his flight was supposed to be short, his plane had enough fuel for a much longer trip.

Murrian was a well-respected man: a skilled pilot with lots of experience, a maintenance worker, and a deacon at his church. He grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee, and his family still lived there. His disappearance is a mystery; the case remains unsolved, and he’s been legally declared dead.
