However, things got suspicious. Frank didn’t report them missing until July 3rd. He then strangely cleaned their motel room thoroughly. Later, he tried to hire someone to kill Janet and kidnap Marisa, claiming he thought Janet was hiding Marisa from him. This was secretly recorded by police. He was arrested and convicted of solicitation to commit murder, kidnapping, and assault.

While in jail, Frank reportedly confessed to getting rid of them to other inmates. He was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. Though he’s the prime suspect, their bodies have never been found.

In 2019, a family turned in Janet’s high school class ring, giving police a new lead in the cold case. Marisa, who was small for her age (5’0″ and 92 pounds in 1985) with brown hair and eyes, is still missing along with her mother. The case remains unsolved.
