Distinguishing Characteristics:
Distinguishing Characteristics Caucasian male. Brown hair, brown eyes. Erthal has burn scars on both arms. He wore a goatee at the time of his 2006 disappearance, and kept his hair in a short, military-style cut. Erthal has the following tattoos: a tribal band on his right bicep, an eagle on his left shoulder and a two-inch spitfire smiley face logo elsewhere on his body. His nickname is Jay.
Details of Disappearance:
Erthal disappeared in Oroville, California on October 11, 2006. He was last seen near Sumi Court. He lived a somewhat unstable life, sharing time between friends’ homes and a trailer park near the Gold Country Casino.

On the day he vanished, Erthal fought with his roommate. He walked away and was never seen again. He left his wallet and ID behind. His roommate died of a drug overdose two weeks later. Erthal’s family reported him missing on November 8th. His mother thinks he’s dead and his body is nearby.

Two days before disappearing, Erthal told a relative he was having trouble with someone named John Ramos. While no one has been officially named as a suspect, police suspect foul play.

Since his disappearance, someone has tried to buy guns using Erthal’s name and birthdate. Erthal was a Marine Corps veteran, unemployed, poor, and struggled with drug use. He didn’t own a car and usually walked or took buses. He often stayed at homeless shelters in Oroville and Chico. He usually kept in touch with his family, making his silence alarming. He left most of his belongings behind, except maybe his military bag. His case is still unsolved.
