Details of Disappearance:
In October 2014, child welfare authorities in Alabama investigated Natasha Wright and Jason Sims Sr. for neglecting their children. They knew about two children living with the couple, but not about a third child, Jason, and a fourth, nine-year-old sibling. These two younger children had never been to school or seen a doctor.

The parents were charged with child neglect, but they had moved before police could arrest them. Then, in January 2015, Ms. Wright was found unconscious. Three days later, the other two children were found with relatives and taken into protective custody. It was only when Ms. Wright briefly woke up and asked about Jason that authorities learned of his existence. A search of the family’s old home found no trace of Jason, and Mr. Sims refused to say where he was.

Mr. Sims was later charged with failing to report Jason missing, claiming he wasn’t Jason’s biological father. Eventually, he pleaded guilty to a lesser charge and received a suspended jail sentence and probation. He still claims he doesn’t know what happened to Jason.

The case is a mystery. There are no recent photos or medical records for Jason, and no one knows where he is. Police say it’s one of the strangest missing person cases they’ve ever seen. Mr. Sims’s lawyer even suggested Jason might not exist.
