Details of Disappearance:
On July 4th, 1977, Jean and John Block left Macomb Airport in Michigan in their small, green and white airplane (N50935) to visit their son. John, an experienced pilot, planned to fly to Luzerne, Michigan. They never arrived.

The weather was bad that day, and because John only used visual navigation (no instruments), he may have gotten lost near Flint, Michigan. A pilot reported seeing them at a small airport in Charlotte, Michigan, later that day. They took off without refueling because the airport was closed.

A big search was done, but neither the Blocks nor their plane were ever found. The area they were likely flying over is heavily wooded, which could hide a crashed plane. The mystery of what happened to them remains unsolved.
