Details of Disappearance:
On August 11, 2015, Farber disappeared in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania. He’d planned to buy drugs that day but the deal fell through. Later that evening, around 7:20 pm, someone saw him walking towards a trail leading into the coal fields.

At 9:09 pm, he called his girlfriend, terrified. He said ten or eleven “coyotes” chased him up a tree on Sharp Mountain. His phone battery was dying, and he urgently asked her to come help and bring guns. The call ended abruptly, and she couldn’t reach him again. She and her brother searched, but couldn’t find him. The police also searched, but to no avail.

Nearly a year and a half later, a hunter found Farber’s sweatpants and backpack in a small tree high up on Sharp Mountain – miles from where he said he was. The area is dangerous, with old, deep mine shafts.

It’s unclear what Farber was running from. It wasn’t likely actual coyotes; they don’t usually hunt in packs or chase people up trees. Some think he was hallucinating from drugs. Others believe “coyotes” referred to a drug gang of the same name, and that gang members might have planted his belongings to confuse the investigation. The police haven’t confirmed the existence of such a gang, however.

Farber’s disappearance remains a mystery.
