Details of Disappearance:

Anna disappeared from her Manchester, Connecticut home on June 4, 1954. She and her husband, Philip, had argued that night, and Philip went to a movie. When he returned, Anna was gone, taking clothes, a lot of money, and a statue. Philip didn’t report her missing.

Anna’s son, from a previous marriage, reported her missing later, and placed a newspaper ad asking her to get in touch. He said Anna usually visited him but stopped after she disappeared.

Anna and Philip had a bad marriage with lots of fighting and abuse, according to neighbors. Anna called a coworker shortly before disappearing, sounding upset and saying she might leave Philip. The call ended abruptly.

Philip divorced Anna in 1956, saying she was cruel. He remarried afterward. Anna’s family suspected Philip killed her and buried her under their garage, which he built around the time she vanished. Police searched the garage in 2006, but found nothing.
