- Details of Disappearance:
- On his 20th birthday, June 26, 1977, Mark Ballenger vanished. He was at the movies, watching Star Wars, on a double date in Satellite Beach, Florida. He went to the bathroom and never returned.
Ballenger had some problems at the time: he was jobless, and struggling with alcohol and drugs. He’d run away from home once before, but came back. He had about $15 on him when he disappeared.
Police aren’t sure what happened. They haven’t found any proof he was kidnapped, and think he might have just left. But, because two of his close friends were badly beaten around the same time (and may have been involved in drugs), the possibility of foul play remains. His disappearance is still a mystery.
Ballenger was a high school graduate. He was officially declared dead 12 years later.
