- Details of Disappearance:
- James Heflin vanished on January 1, 1969, from Oktibbeha County, Mississippi. He was separated from his wife, who lived in Chicago with their two sons. Heflin worked at a Kroger in Jackson, Mississippi. His wife found out he was missing from a relative.
He drove away in his car (maybe a Volkswagen). Before he disappeared, Heflin was involved in a possible crime in Longview, Mississippi. A friend drove him there, and overheard a heated argument. Heflin came out crying, saying he couldn’t reveal what happened because it would endanger his friend. He refused to go to the police, fearing for his family’s safety, after being threatened by the man in Longview.
Heflin sometimes disappeared for months, but his wife didn’t think he’d leave his kids permanently. While there’s no proof he was murdered, it’s still a possibility. His disappearance remains a mystery.
