Details of Disappearance:
In October 1988, 12-year-old Annette disappeared. She was waiting for her school bus in Mount Holly, South Carolina, near where her mother, Korrina, had vanished almost a year earlier. Annette was last seen at 7:00 a.m. When the bus arrived, she was gone, leaving her dog behind.

Her stepfather, Steve, who worked at the large Mount Holly Plantation where they lived, found a note at the bus stop that seemed to say Annette had left with her mother. Handwriting experts confirmed it was Annette’s writing. However, nobody saw anyone pick Annette up, and neither mother nor daughter has ever been seen again.

The family lived on the plantation’s vast 6,000 acres. Korrina’s disappearance followed an argument with Steve, and her car was found at the plantation entrance. Steve’s sons from his marriage to Korrina said their parents fought violently, and that he had a drug problem. They were too young to remember the details of their mother and sister’s disappearances.

Steve moved to Florida soon after Annette’s disappearance. The boys were put into foster care, later adopted, and have since reconnected with their family. Steve has always claimed he’s innocent.

A tip in 2000 led police to search a location in Sumter County, but nothing was found. Even though the case is officially labeled a non-family abduction, investigators suspect foul play and believe both Annette and Korrina likely met with harm and never left the plantation.
