- Riley and Mark Adamson disappeared after being seen getting into a maroon car outside a Walmart in Barstow, California, at 1:30 PM. Adamson’s roommate said they were going to buy a car, and Adamson had a lot of cash.
Later, James Franklin and Christian Bunty were charged with their murders. Franklin was already in prison for another crime. Franklin’s nephew, Steven Dondero, was also arrested.
Police think the suspects lured Riley and Adamson with a deal to buy $9,000 worth of ephedrine (used to make meth), then robbed and killed them. The charges against Bunty were dropped, Dondero pleaded guilty to helping hide a suspect and got two years in prison, but Franklin was convicted of murder.
Riley and Adamson are still missing, and police believe they were murdered. They think the bodies might be buried in the Mojave Desert.
