Details of Disappearance:

Annette disappeared from Pembroke Pines, Florida on January 26, 2000. Her boyfriend, Naraine Ramsammy (they weren’t legally married, but lived together), waited two months before reporting her missing. He gave several different stories: she went to Trinidad for an abortion, she jumped from a cruise ship, or she left on her own.

Annette had a young son. Five months later, her mother in Guyana received a letter supposedly from Annette, saying she’d done wrong by Ramsammy. The letter came from Ramsammy’s area.

Annette had a complicated past. She’d been married to Ramsammy’s brother and had a child with him before moving to the US. She was also married to another man, Darrin, at the time she disappeared, and they had a good relationship. Darrin said Ramsammy was abusive and controlling.

Annette disappeared soon after Ramsammy found out she was having an affair and was pregnant. He threatened to kill her and her lover. Their son later said he saw Ramsammy choke his mother until she fell unconscious. The boy said he last saw Annette the next day, leaving their home and never returning.

In 2004, a body was found in the Everglades. DNA testing wasn’t conclusive, but it strongly suggested a relationship to Annette’s mother.

Ramsammy was charged with murder. His lawyers said Annette ran away, but their son testified against him. Ramsammy was found guilty of second-degree murder in 2008 and given a life sentence. Everything points to foul play being involved in Annette’s disappearance.
