Details of Disappearance:
In 1936, little Joseph lived in New York City with his aunt Pauline, who had raised him since he was a baby. They lived on Park Avenue, and his mother lived just a short walk away on Fifth Avenue.

One day in September, Pauline left Joseph with a neighbor to play. The neighbor took him outside, but when she went to get him later, he was gone. Joseph vanished and was never seen again.

Six days later, Pauline got a mysterious telegram saying Joseph would be back on Wednesday and a doctor wouldn’t let whoever sent it move him. The telegram was signed, but with a name Pauline didn’t know, and the name has never been revealed. No one ever heard from the sender again, and Joseph never came home.

The New York City Police still don’t know what happened to Joseph, and his case is one of their oldest unsolved mysteries.
