Details of Disappearance:
On his 23rd birthday, November 4, 2000, Jason Smith spent the day with his dad at a country club (The Lodge), saw a movie, and had dinner. He then started his evening shift at Lulu’s Restaurant but left early after an argument with his manager.

Smith never returned to work and didn’t go home. His worried family searched for him all night, eventually calling the police at 5:00 a.m. He was last seen near his truck at The Lodge around 8:30 p.m.

His truck was found locked, with his wallet and money inside, but the keys were missing. His sneakers were found on the beach nearby. Search dogs followed his scent, but the search turned up nothing else. Police said if he’d drowned, evidence would have washed ashore.

Before disappearing, Smith had left college, where he played soccer, and had recently experienced a mental health episode. His family says it was completely out of character for him to vanish like this. His disappearance remains a mystery.
