Details of Disappearance:
On January 6th, 2010, Truitt disappeared from her home in Alameda, California. Three days later, her truck—a tan 2003 Ford Ranger with California license plate 7C23799—was found at McClure’s Beach in Point Reyes National Seashore. Two of her dogs were in the truck, and a third was tied up nearby.

Truitt loved hiking and knew Point Reyes well. Because her truck was still there the next day, park rangers started looking for her. McClure’s Beach is dangerous; the water is rough, and some parts are only safe to access during low tide. Search dogs followed her scent to the beach, but couldn’t find her beyond that.

Police don’t think anyone harmed her; they think she had an accident while hiking. Before her disappearance, Truitt was a pastry chef but a neck injury left her disabled. She often walked to manage her pain and enjoyed art—taking computer graphics classes and teaching kids.

Despite searches, Truitt’s body has never been found.
