- On July 21, 1998, Portelli was in Melbourne, Florida, for a drug treatment meeting at a place called Circles of Care. After the meeting, she left with two men and disappeared. Nobody has seen or heard from her since. Later, her pager was found in a nearby town, Cocoa, Florida.
