Details of Disappearance:
Sumner disappeared on April 24, 1978, from Gerty, Oklahoma, after visiting his ranch. He told a friend, “This is the last time you’ll ever see me,” but she didn’t think much of it because he was known for joking around. He was never seen again, and his truck and guns are missing.

Around the same time, two dangerous escaped convicts, Dennis and Lancaster, were on a crime spree. They killed eight people across several states before being killed by police. Interestingly, the car they stole the day they escaped was found near Sumner’s ranch.

One theory is that Dennis and Lancaster kidnapped Sumner, stole his truck, and used it during their crime spree. Sumner’s last words to his friend might have been a cry for help. However, there’s no direct evidence linking them. Police also looked into a possible argument Sumner had with neighbors.

Despite investigations, Sumner’s disappearance remains a mystery. He was declared legally dead in 2007.
