- In January 2003, Varela’s mom reported her missing. The last time her mom saw her was in September 2002, when Varela and her boyfriend visited them in Las Vegas.
Varela and her boyfriend lived together in Arizona. In January 2003, their house was taken over by a new owner who found bullet holes. Police investigated but found no proof of a crime.
The boyfriend gave a confusing story. He claimed he last saw Varela in August 2002 (a month before her mother saw her), saying she disappeared one day and he didn’t report it because she’d done that before.
Basically, nobody knows what happened to Varela. There’s very little information, and the boyfriend’s story doesn’t match up with other accounts. Her disappearance is a mystery.
