Details of Disappearance:

On November 29, 1986, 16-year-old Kristina disappeared from Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. She’d argued with her mom about curfew and left home around 10:30 pm. Kristina called a friend, asking to spend the night, but her friend’s mom said no. Kristina said she’d sleep by the apartment complex pool. She mentioned a slow-moving taxi during the call. Her friend later found only Kristina’s red sweater by the pool.

Kristina left behind money in her savings account and didn’t take any extra cash or belongings. She was a normal high school student, recently finishing a book report and auditioning for a school play. Her mom doesn’t think she ran away. Police suspect foul play.

Christopher Below is a person of interest. He’s in prison in Ohio for attempted manslaughter (he shot a woman, Kathern Fetzer, whose body was never found). He’s also linked to other missing young women, all with dark hair. A missing person flyer for Kristina was found in his Ohio home. His sister said he kept a box of missing women’s posters, but it’s missing. Below lived in South Carolina around the time Kristina disappeared, but his exact whereabouts then are unknown. He hasn’t been charged with anything related to Kristina’s disappearance; the connection is circumstantial.
