- Details of Disappearance:
- Kyle went missing from his home in Good Thunder, Minnesota, in December 1991. His parents both thought the other had him. He likely wandered outside near the Maple River. Searchers found his mittens, a piece of his jeans, and his footprints leading onto the river ice toward a hole in the ice. The footprints ended there, so it’s believed he fell through and drowned. The river wasn’t very deep, only four or five feet.
Although his body was never found, a memorial service was held. Years later, in October 2003, a man searching the river (which was unusually low that year) because of a TV show he’d watched, found a bone he thought was Kyle’s. This led to another search, and they found a boot and clothing that matched Kyle’s. Sadly, the bone was from an animal. Even so, police still hope to find Kyle’s remains someday.
