- Details of Disappearance:
- On December 7, 2016, a small plane carrying pilot, Lance Longerbeam, and the Blom family (Scott, Kaitlyn, and Zachary) disappeared in Alaska. They were flying from Port Alsworth to Anchorage for a volleyball tournament. The flight should have been a short 90 minutes.
The plane never arrived. Investigators think it crashed in Lake Clark. They found some plane parts and belongings floating in the lake the next day, but the plane and the people are still missing.
The pilot wasn’t fully qualified to fly in bad weather. While it was clear at takeoff, there was thick fog over Lake Clark along their route. This fog might have caused the crash, but there’s not enough evidence to be sure. The official cause is “undetermined”.
Everyone on board is presumed dead, but they are officially still listed as missing until their bodies are found. Because the lake is so deep, finding them is very unlikely.
